Notes about the Church | Do not confuse this church with Holy Trinity, Amblecote. St Mary's Church, in Kingswinford village, was the parish church until 1832. Holy Trinity Church at Wordsley was consecrated as the parish church of Kingswinford in 1831, and the parish registers of St Mary were transferred to it. St Mary became a chapel of ease and commenced new registers for baptisms and burials in 1832, and for marriages in 1837. The baptism register 1829-1841 and the burial register 1813-1840 that were begun at St Mary were continued at Holy Trinity. We have split our transcriptions of these two registers so that the events up to 31 Dec 1831 are associated with St Mary while the events after this date are associated with Holy Trinity. |
