Near as we can tell, the church started as a Presbyterian church called simply "Old Meeting". In 1834 it became Independent/Congregational and was known as Ebenezer Chapel (note that we have a separate church entry for this). In 1971 it was merged into the Hardware Street United Reformed Church (which also has its own entry). The location was in or near Carter's Green, so references to this church may appear as Carter's Green Ebenezer Chapel or the like. |
